French Film Festival
The French Film Festival was screened in Pune on 18th and 19th June 2011 at the National Film Archive of India. This festival was organized by The French Embassy in India and Alliance Française in India under the aegis of Pune Film Foundation (PFF) jointly with National Film Archive of India and supported by Wild Bunch, Lumiére Movies and UTV World Movies. 5 Feature Films were screened at the 2 day festival. PODIUM, directed by Yann Moix was the Opening Film.
The Film Festival commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. Jabbar Patel (PFF). He informed the audience that PFF was in the process of organising additional activities besides the annual Pune International Film Festival. The 2 day Spanish Film Festival organized in April 2011 was the first followed by the French Film Festival. He acknowledged the support of Alliance Française of Pune in making French Films available for PIFF and this festival.
Mr. Luc Didon, Director, Alliance Française de Poona remarked that Indian Films are making their presence felt in France and are particularly conspicuous at the Cannes Film Festival. He also informed that they were putting in efforts to arrange the European Film Festival in Pune.
The movies were viewed by a full audience which spoke volumes of the interest in French cinema in India. Three films were screened on Saturday, 18th June 2011 from 12.00 pm to 6 pm :
