Yashwant International Film Festival
On The eve of Golden Jubilee celebrations of State of Maharashtra and in memory of first Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri. Yashwantrao Chavan, The 1st Yashwant International Film Festival was organized by Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, jointly with Pune Film Foundation. Yashwantrao Chavan was a great visionary, a social reformist, a practitioner of administration as an art and a great connoisseur of arts. The Festival was held at Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan’s main auditorium and the Rangswar theatre at Nariman Point, Mumbai from 20th to 26th January, 2011.
The selected films of Pune International Film Festival were showcased at the 1st Yashwant International Film Festival as it is the extended satellite festival of Pune Film Foundation. In the Festival we showcased the changing images of cinema, new talent, innovations and experiments.
The Opening ceremony was followed by screening of opening film of the Festival “Dooman River (La riviere tumen)” (directed by Zhang Lu / France-South Korea) which won the Prabhat Best International Film award at 9th Pune International Film Festival.
The Festival was closed with the screening of “Babu Band Baaja” which won the Best Marathi Film Award in 9th Pune International Film Festival.
The festival presented all the film buffs and film critics an interesting cross section of internationally renowned films selected by the maestros of the film industry.
The festival was a great success.
